Some inherit wealth. Others inherit a story that changes everything.
Susan, a 21-year-old journalism student from Canterbury, travels to Kerala after receiving an unexpected inheritance. What begins as a journey to understand the property left to her soon becomes a deeper search for her family history, identity and sense of belonging.
In Kerala, Susan discovers a handwritten manuscript telling the story of Ram. As she becomes absorbed in his life and choices, the boundaries between the past and present begin to narrow. His story challenges her understanding of love, loss, forgiveness, morality, happiness and the meaning of a worthwhile life.
Set between England and Kerala, Beneath the Banyan Sky is an emotionally layered exploration of family, cultural identity, spiritual legacy and the stories we inherit.
