Walter Dimon is a writer. His work considers how we learn to think for ourselves and what happens when reality contradicts what we believe.
His interest in reasoning began in high school, where he taught himself advanced mathematics and learned difficult ideas the slow way. He spent his early career teaching mathematics and could often anticipate where a student would go wrong because he remembered making many of the same mistakes when he was younger. The experience left him curious about how we arrive at our answers and why our errors can feel so convincing from the inside.
When he is not writing, Walter enjoys photographing city skylines at sunset. He can happily spend an evening exploring different views as the sun gets lower and the lights come on across the city.
Walter is the author of First Principles Thinking.
